The salon has been cleared except for a chrome chair nobody uses. Paris Poodle stands in the middle of the room while three fitters reconsider a sleeve that does not exist.

The look began as a study in restraint. It now contains eleven metres of oxblood silk, a powder-pink shoulder structure and a collar that requires its own travel case.

“Restraint was discussed,” Paris says. “We moved on.”

Couture follows the body

The construction begins at the harness and moves around the poodle’s natural line. Nothing asks the body to imitate another species. The drama comes from proportion, surface and a silhouette engineered for four legs.

At 17:40, the creative director proposes removing the collar. Paris looks at the mirror, then at the director. The collar remains.

The final fitting lasts eleven minutes. The photograph lasts longer.
